Zinc phthalocyanine absorbance in the near-infrared with application for transparent and colorless dye-sensitized solar cells

Transparent and colorless solar cells are attractive new photovoltaic devices as they could bring opportunities to harness sunlight energy particularly for their integration in windows. In this work, a zinc phthalocyanine was synthesized investigated sensitizer dye-sensitized cell (DSSC) purpose. The features benzoic acid anchoring group six thio(4-tertbutylphenyl) substituents α position of the phtalocyanine. dye characterized by absorption emission spectroscopy electrochemistry. physico-chemical properties show that fulfills criteria such an application. A detailed computational study indicates electronic communication with TiO 2 conduction is weak owing absence overlapping wavefunctions those semiconductor. performances were measured -based DSSC revealed inefficient electron injection, which certainly can be explained coupling limits injection efficiency. strategy proposed make better-performing sensitizers.
